"The development and progress of the Covid-19 pandemic makes the arrival of pateras to the Canary Islands from West Africa resemble the past cayuco crisis of 2006. The migrants reach the coasts of the islands after crossing one of the most dangerous routes to enter Europe, the so-called Canary Route.
The massive arrival of migrants means that the institutions and administrations of the Canary Islands are overwhelmed and unable to provide an efficient response when it comes to welcoming all those seeking shelter.
""It Between"" reviews what is happening in the camps at a legal, situational and moral level, from experts in law, economics and history, as well as from people who have experienced these situations first hand.
The documentary analyzes the current situation in the archipelago in relation to irregular entries of migrants, analyzes the legislation on foreigners and the practices carried out as a result of the pandemic, arguing the situations in the countries of origin and reviewing the regulations of the European Union.
The documentary shows how the entire system for the reception of migrants has changed, and how the most basic human rights are violated, as well as the European Union's own immigration laws.
The film reviews the European legal framework and analyzes how it is designed so that the entire migratory burden is borne by the so-called ""southern border"".
And how the means of these countries are insufficient to cope with the massive demand for asylum that has increased during the COVID-19 pandemic.
""Migrating is not a crime""."
