Black Harvest follows Joe Leahy (the half-caste son of one of the first explorers of the Papua New Guinean interior) and his progress in convincing the indigenous Ganiga people to join him in his coffee growing venture. While Joe's relations with the local Ganiga tribe who work his coffee plantation are difficult at times, he successfully gets them to agree to open a second plantation in partnership with him. Things are But on the eve of success, the price of coffee crashes, resulting in tribal warfare. Always arousing suspicion due to his mixed-race status, Joe is in trouble when his promises of riches fail to materialize, and he must move his family to safety in Australia. Black Harvest, the final film in the Highlands Trilogy.
