Michael Brown is a convicted fraudster from Scotland. Posing as a highly successful bond dealer, claiming connections with the royal family Brown swindled around 36M pounds out of his victims. He is perhaps most noted for a record 2.4M pounds donation to the Liberal Democrat Party in the run-up to the 2005 UK General Election. Despite not being a party member, not being registered to vote and living abroad, he was welcomed with open arms by the party's top brass, including party leader Charles Kennedy.
